third ascendancy

Miss Kemble (GB)
In The Wings
Glorious Song (CAN)
Polar Falcon (USA)
Rich In Love (IRE)

A strong attractive colt by a very exciting stallion in Excelebration who is really starting to sire plenty of winners from his first crop. His runners to date are very highly regarded and there are plenty of them that are showing Group race potential. Don’t forget only the brilliant Frankel was better than him on the racetrack and this is the chance to get involved at an early stage of his career.

This colt comes from a family of winners. He is the first runner for his dam, Lady Bellatrix, who won herself, while the first and second dams were multiple winners. The pedigree goes back to Pursuit of Love who was the champion sprinter in Europe. I would think his ideal trip would be anything between 7f and 1m 2f.

Price: All sensible offers considered

Update: 24th May:

He ran very well in his first race and would have finished third or fourth if not hampered at the two furlong pole. He will be running again shortly and we will see a big improvement in him, especially over six and seven furlongs. A sure fire winner and improver, he is a very attractive strong colt who I can highly recommend to anybody. If anybody is at all interested please ring the office and talk to the Guv’nor as he is reasonably priced.

Makfi ex Seasonal Blossom Bay Filly

(D.O.B 12.04.15)

Honey Blossom
2015 Bay filly

first ascendancy
Seasonal blossom (GB)
second ascendancy
Dubawi (IRE)
Fairy King
Temporary Lull
third ascendancy
Dubai Millennium
Green Desert (USA)
Irish Valley (USA)
Northern Dancer
Fairy Bridge (USA)
Super Concord (USA)
Magazine (USA)

A strong very attractive filly, she comes from a great winning producing mare, Seasonal Blossom, and by a Classic winning sire in Makfi. The sire is doing remarkably well with all types of animals, both in the northern hemisphere and the southern. This filly has been pleasing me is everything she has done and has scope for the future but will be a May onwards runner as a two-year-old. As for trip, I am sure a mile will be well inside her compass and she might get further in time.

Update: 24th May:

Her progress continues and she is very nearly ready to appear on the track. Stevie Donohoe was delighted with her this morning when he rode her on the peat moss and she needs just one more sharp piece of work early next week before her first entry will be made. A strong compact filly she goes really well and enjoys the job. I can see her progressing as the year goes on.

Authorized ex Missouri bay filly

(D.O.B 13.03.13)

Lost The Moon

2013 Bay Filly

first ascendancy
Authorized (IRE)
Missouri (GB)
second ascendancy
Montjeu (IRE)
Funsie (FR)
Charnwood Forest (IRE)
Medway (IRE)
third ascendancy
Sadler's Wells (USA)
Floripedes (FR)
Vallee Dansante (USA)
Dance of Leaves
Sea Port

Lost The Moon is now a winner twice and has developed, as I expected, into a filly full of potential. Her siblings have all done likewise and there is still so much improvement to come as she gets older and gains experience. We gave her plenty of time to grow into her big frame and after a few runs, which taught her a lot, she won her first race with ease by six lengths and has now won again despite going up in the weights. A mile and a half to two miles will be well within her compass and she is a very exciting prospect for the coming season. You just don't know where we may end up. I cannot recommend an involvement in her more highly.

Update: 19th June:

She was very disappointing at Chelmsford the other day and has been on the go for quite a while now. I am just going to give her a few weeks on the easy, i.e. walking and trotting and afternoons in the paddock, just to let her unwind a bit and to get some strength back. She is a great big filly, with a huge frame and there is only so much you can press them with at this stage in their lives. Once she fills out and gets much stronger, she will show us what she can really do.

Harbour Watch ex Missouri Bay Filly

(D.O.B 23.03.15)

Ness Of Brodgar
2015 Bay filly

first ascendancy
Harbour Watch (IRE)
Missouri (GB)
second ascendancy
Acclamation (GB)
Gorband (USA)
Charnwood Forest (IRE)
Medway (IRE)
third ascendancy
Royal Applause (GB)
Princess Athena
Woodman (USA)
Sheroog (USA)
Dance of Leaves
Sea Port

This two-year-old is a very attractive, well grown filly. She is from a marvellous family and the mare, Missouri, has bred nothing but winners. Battery Power, Crystal Pearl, Captain Cullen are just three of them. Our own Lost The Moon, who is featured below, is another winner from the family and looks like being well above average. The filly's sire, Harbour Watch (who is by Acclamation), had a great start to his career with his first runners in 2016. His progeny are strong and athletic and this two-year-old is a prime example. She comes highly recommended.

A report on Mark's selection process:

Yearlings are purchased in the autumn to be prepared and trained for following season. Mark attends the sales worldwide in his search to find the winners of the future.

Pacemaker magazine reported Mark to be one of the top buyers of yearlings. The following shows the selection process that he undertakes for each yearling sale.

"We have bought some fantastic horses at unbelievably good prices over the years. This is where our hard work pays off - we look at almost every horse at each sale and therefore manage to find some exciting prospects.

"As I have said here before, the pedigree can sometimes set the price. But the horses we choose have merit all of their own. We buy yearlings that, in our opinion, have potential as racehorses; this means we do not buy just the pedigree. Athleticism, good-looks, great outlook and correct conformation are what we are looking for - genuine racehorses and potential winners.

"Whether we are spending £2,000 or £200,000 the same selection process is followed. We finally reach our 'to buy' list - some of which we buy but some of those on the list sell for far more than I consider is the right value.

"All I want is to give my owners plenty of enjoyment, so I try to buy them what I consider to be good, sound racehorses with scope for improvement at a fair price."

In addition to purchasing yearlings at auction, we can offer yearlings bred at Dulligham Park Stud. For example, Ted Spread, who was bred at the stud and is the winner of the 2010 Chester Vase, was purchased privately, as was the 2010 listed Galtres Stakes winner, Brushing.

Winning racehorses is what we are looking for and this is our constant aim on behalf of our owners.

The following are just some of the previous purchases made by Mark:

Winner of the St Leger (Gp 1) - Bob's Return (bought for under £15,000 and won in excess of £530,000)

Winner of the Duke of York Stakes (Gp 2) - Steenberg (bought for approx. £15,000 and won over £220,000)

Winner of the Gladness Stakes (Gp 3) - Cool Edge (bought for approx. £750 and won over £100,000)

Winner of the Brigadier Gerard (Gp 3) - Smokey Oakey (bought for approx. £12,000 and won over £140,000)

Winner of the Lily Langtry Stakes (Gp 3) - Astrocharm (bought for under £10,000 and won over £110,000)

Group & Listed placed - Babodana (bought for £15,000 and won over £220,000)

"I am delighted to have had great success for my owners," added Mark. "Owning a racehorse is all about fun, excitement and new experiences, but there are no guarantees - you still need that little bit of luck!"

Once budgets and orders have been agreed, your request can be included in Mark's search for the 'cream of the crop' of young stock.
