Sunshine and showers expected this week

"A grandfather is someone with silver in his hair and gold in his heart."

Cantering and moving well

It’s a coolish morning with plenty of high clouds and the occasional bright moment. The forecast is for heavy thundery showers during the week and I think it will continue like this for most of the month. The horses are getting their normal Monday morning exercise, mainly using Southfields Round, and although we are one rider down this morning (a non-turn up once again) we are getting on well.

Ness Of Brodgar

Our runners at York on Friday both look like they want at least a mile. Microclimate was very green beforehand and maybe a visit to the vet would do him the power of good. He jumped the road as well, which I think frightened the jockey. Archie Bear will benefit greatly from the outing though and it will not be long before we run him again. Hopefully we will have a runner at Royal Ascot on Friday and then a few at the weekend.

Belle Bayeux

The build up to the big meeting continues with every tipsters and pundit having their say, but the ground and draw, I’m sure, will play a big part all week. Richard and I will be having our usual competition and hopefully pointing you in the right direction. This is without doubt the best racing week of the year where everybody from far and wide comes to see the top horses on show. The royal patronage is unbelievable and the Queen will enjoy the week as much as anybody. I hope she can have a winner which will make it even better.
