It's an overcast morning but still quite warm. The good thing is that we have a full complement of staff and everybody is working well. Southfields Round and Hamilton Hill have been the cantering grounds this morning and so far so good.

We have two runners today both at Lingfield. Topalova is our first runner at 3.30 in the two mile handicap. The ground will be a bit firm for her I think, but she will stay this trip and I am just hopeful of a good run today. Our other runner is Astromerry who makes her debut in the six furlong two year old race. I'm not sure about the ground for her either, but she has been showing ability at home and this outing will do her the world of good.

I don't know about you but I can't understand what is going on with the television rights and what all the racecourses are thinking. Ascot has just signed up with Sky which to me means that ITV will be upset especially considering what a good job they have just done at the recent Royal Meeting. It also means that Ascot will be shown on pay TV rather than free-to-air. I have always been of the opinion that any sport wants to be on free-to-air TV if it is to maintain it's appeal. We seem constantly to have all aspects of our industry pulling in different directions.
