All our runners ran with credit

It’s been another hot weekend and it looks like continuing this way all week. There is no rain forecast at all. I can’t remember a spell like this ever. We have been using Southfields Round polytrack for most of the lots this morning and all has gone well. The horses and staff are in very good form.

All our runners performed with credit over the weekend. True Calling looks like she wants a bit further but will now get a handicap mark. I am sure she will be seen to better effect later in the year. I was delighted with Ginger Lady’s second. She came up against a very in form opponent and surely will be winning if we can keep her in one piece. Astroblaze was a bit unlucky in running and just needed the outing. I think she is another that will benefit from a bit further. Four Fifty Three was given a very good ride by Shane Kelly to get his head in front once again. He loves it around Chelmsford and should be able to win another few in the future. The atmosphere at the track was fantastic on Saturday with the big screens showing the football match. Everybody had a great time and they certainly seemed to get that happy feeling at Chelmsford.

Walking back after exercise

It is the big July meeting here at Newmarket this week when there will be plenty of overseas visitors, both for the racing and the sales, which starts on Wednesday. It all culminates in the July Cup on Saturday, which is still one of the busiest weekends of the year with many big meetings on the same day. There is nobody that seems to want to change this and I have mentioned this before, but I can’t see any good reason why Newmarket shouldn’t go back to Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday as I am sure they would get just as many paying customers on those days.
